The newly launched PokerStars.pt in Portugal is one of the busiest online pokers sites in the world based on real money cash game players.

That is the finding of PokerScout, an online poker traffic ranking site which estimates the number of players at cash game tables on the major operators. In just 19 days, PokerStars.pt dealt over 36 million hands across real money cash games, multi-table tournaments and Sit & Go tournaments.

PokerStars.pt, which has been dubbed ‘Ronaldo’s room’ by Portuguese newspaper ‘Record’, also offers casino games such as Blackjack and Roulette, on both desktop and mobile.

PokerStars expects to seek appropriate approval to expand its offering of poker variants and casino games to include sports betting through BetStars in Portugal in the future.

Eric Hollreiser, Vice President of Corporate Communications for PokerStars, told TotallyGaming.com: “It’s great to see poker is more popular than ever with Portuguese players. We are thrilled to be able to provide our world class poker software in Portugal once again, and look forward to expanding our offering in the future.”

Totally Gaming says: PokerStars launched PokerStars.pt after being granted a local license within Portugal’s recently developed, independent regulatory and licensing regime. Based on PokerScout’s numbers, the launch of a regulated market in Portugal appears to have been enthusiastically embraced by consumers.
