A closer look at Betting On Sports

Betting On Sports is the largest conference dedicated solely to the sports betting industry. It will take place Sept. 15-16 at the 5-Star Grange Tower Bridge Hotel in London.

The event is put on by Sports Betting Community, an organization “dedicated to raising the profile and coverage of gambling operators, software suppliers and industry start-ups in the complex and saturated online gaming market,’” according to its website.

“Betting on Sports is going to be the biggest event the betting industry has seen for 10 years,” SBC Managing Director Andrew McCarron said.

“After three highly successful Betting on Football conferences we’ve expanded SBC Events to launch the inaugural Betting on Sports (#BIGnBOS) this September,” SBC Founder Rasmus Sojmark said. “It’s grown into a two-day event and with over 600 delegates expected to attend, there’s no doubt that if you’re in the industry, it’s a must-attend.”

Who will be there?

There will be representatives from sports books, regulatory bodies, athletic organizations and teams, media companies, sports marketing firms and European-facing daily fantasy sports sites. It’s an excellent networking opportunity for anyone even tangentially involved in the sports betting industry.

“I’m very excited for BOS,” Shergul Arshad, founder of the daily fantasy sports siteMondogoal. “I participated in a workshop after ICE with a series of operators and DFS was a buzzword starting to be thrown around.

“Whilst the larger US sites focused on the US and their own marketing, we’ve emerged as the only robust, scalable, secure and proven platform that integrates into gaming sites, and I’m really looking forward to demonstrating the platform and discussing new partnerships.”

The Betting On Sports agenda

Nearly any topic one can imagine related to sports betting will be tackled over the course of the two days. But here are some of the highlights from the panels being offered:

  • The state of the betting industry in 2016, Brexit and beyond.
  • How betting can partner with sport to reach a new audience.
  • Playing fair on integrity – how betting put the ball in sport’s court.
  • In-Play time – User engagement in live betting environments.
  • Money laundering, data protection and responsible gambling.
  • How do regulators perceive the threats to sports betting?
  • A pair of esports betting sessions, on corruption and live betting.
  • How bookmakers can work with DFS operators.
